Get the launcher

Download the Haven Launcher

  1. Unzip it anywhere you like.
  2. Open Sunrise.exe. Haven is already set up (the gear icon changes where the game installs).
  3. Click Verify Files. The first time, it downloads the game (about 4.3 GB).
  4. Run Haven Screen Fix (in the same folder) so the game fits your screen.
Sunrise won't open, or Windows asks for .NET? Run the installer in the zip's If Sunrise won't open folder (Microsoft's free .NET 3.1 Runtime, the exact one Sunrise needs). Using another launcher? Add this manifest (no spaces):

Get your account

Join our Discord and ask staff for the COH Haven role. Then open #getting-started under HAVEN | CITY OF HEROES and type /haven-account. Pick your login name and password, and you're set.

New to City of Heroes, or rusty? The guide covers archetypes, power sets and slotting in plain words.

Game cut off, tiny or blurry?

That's Windows display scaling, common on laptops. Close the game and run Haven Screen Fix from the launcher folder (installed somewhere else? drag Ouroboros.exe onto it). Or do it by hand:

  1. Open your game folder (default C:\City of Heroes\Haven).
  2. Right-click Ouroboros.exe > Properties > Compatibility.
  3. Change high DPI settings > tick Override high DPI scaling behavior > set it to Application > OK.

Screen size and full screen

Set in game: Menu > Options > Graphics & Audio. Changes take effect once you're in game.

Not using the launcher? Start Ouroboros.exe with -patchdir ouro -noversioncheck -auth 45.45.239.132
